Review Submitted Aug 26, 2006 My wife and myself went to Fagan's on Friday in mid Aug 2006.
I asked what they have in the Fuller line. All they had was the ESB....not much of a selection in the brand but that was fine with me. Asked for 2 glasses with the beer, one for me and other for my wife's Corona.
Glasses never came, only the bottles of beer...asked again...again glasses never came. Had to go up to the bar and have bartender give them to me.
Ordered the Guinness Cheese Fondue
as an appetizer. Took about 20 mins to get it...the restaurant was only about 1/3rd full.
When it came it was indeed hot and in a small metal bucket on a fondue rack. The waitress lit a motive candle and put it under the rack...the candle itself sat on the table under the pot. As she lit the candle...she lost her balance and spilled some of the bread that was to be served with the fondue. Accompanying the bread was large pieces of cauliflower and broccoli. Too large of pieces to be bite size...they had to be cut into smaller pieces by my hands. IMO those veggies did not go well with the cheese fondue which in itself was not bad.
For the main course my wife ordered the Brits N Chips..and I ordered the Belfast Sheperd's Pie (thats the was they spell it).
Those orders came a bit quicker than the appetizer. As far as the Brits N Chips go....thats exactly what she got....potato chips and about 3 or 4 small pieces of fish.
My Belfast Sheperd's Pie was the worst Sheperd's Pie that I have eaten. It came in a small oval plate...not enough to warrant the $13.99 price tag. It was very under seasoned and needed a lot more of that.
We originally thought that we would try some of the deserts, but after 2 and 1/2 strikes we both definitely agreed to pass on that.
The atmosphere is somewhat dimly lit and does offer live music. The Friday that we were there offered a solo man on the guitar and singing. Instead of a tip jar by his side, they had someone come around each table with a tip jar asking for donations.
We always wanted to go to Fagan's and finally did....been there done that. They are located in downtown Fresno. They would not make it in the more popular north end of Fresno or Clovis.

I've visited many a pub in Ireland and England. This compares favorably with the best of them. The food and the drink are good and the atmosphere is very friendly.
This establishment deserves support.

Review Submitted Aug 20, 2005 Fagan's is a great pub, the food is true irish, but they do serve some normal american style food for the one in the group that is not willing to try something new. the staff is fairly knowable about the over 50 different beers that they carry, and most important they pour the perfect pint. Fagan's has a very relaxed and friendly atmosphere, and you feel very comfortable and welcome. would recomend it to everyone looking for a nice place to eat lunch,or dinner and have a couple of pint. - jim, usa
